Grovely State School: A school of choice, united in purpose!

Welcome to Grovely State School’s website! I am proud to present information to you about our unique school community.

At Grovely, we offer a caring, family oriented, small school environment where all students can participate and actively engage in all facets of school life. Grovely offers a mix of traditional school programs and many innovative and recognised programs and initiatives 'to support and challenge' the diverse range of students who attend the school. In 2009 our school introduced a Montessori Learning Program into the school. Grovely State School is the first primary school in Queensland to take this step. The inclusion of this program complements the quality mainstream program and offers greater choice of educational provision to families in our locality. While two learning programs are available our community is strongly united in purpose: to provide quality learning experiences that holistically prepare students for their futures.
What we offer ….just a snapshot……
  • A Prep to 7 program.
  • A strong focus on the achievement of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A music program comprising strings, brass, woodwind, percussion and choral program.
  • Sports Programs, with a major emphasis on swimming, rugby league and netball. A swimming club operates each Friday evening drawing families from within the school and wider community.
  • A LOTE program from years 2-7 offers Japanese tuition.
  • A School Chaplain to assist with family support and pastoral care within the school community.
  • A garden where students learn not only about gardening and harvesting fresh fruit and vegetables but also have the opportunity to cook and share the food they have produced.
  • Regular celebrations of students' achievements offer opportunities for further learning. Celebrations of Learning are conducted each term to showcase the work of students and provide parents with the opportunity to engage in the learning program of their children. Annual celebratory events include: Education Week: Literacy Week: NAIDOC: Under Eights.
  • This school includes children with special needs as well as those from a range of cultural backgrounds. Our community celebrates the diversity within our school. It is one of our strengths.
  • An inclusive SEU program caters to the needs of students with disabilities through support in the classroom and specialised programs.
  • A Red Cross, Good Start Breakfast Club every Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
  • Fabulous facilities: Grovely State School is a school of just over 50 years in age. It is beautifully maintained and well cared for. A highly functional, contemporary Electronic Learning Centre and Resource Centre supports the acquisition of Information Communication and Technology skills. Nine electronic whiteboards across the school link classes to the outside world providing on-line learning experiences. The school is situated on a huge acreage with extensive playing fields, a tennis court and 25m pool.
  • In 2010 the school will have Performing Arts Centre.
Our success is a result of the efforts, commitment and of a qualified and dedicated staff team. They are supported by a significant number of dedicated volunteers. Our staff, the P&C and our volunteers are continually working to improve our school. The close cooperation between families and the school make our school a great place to be.
We know that when home and school work together, great things happen for children. Welcome to Grovely State School
Cheers
