P&C Association

Grovely State School P&C

The Grovely State School P&C Association is a voluntary organisation made up of parents and community members who are interested in making the most out of our fantastic school community.

At Grovely State School, we manage the tuckshop, uniform shop, Friday community coffee and volunteer engagement. We facilitate events designed to bring our community together, and to raise funds for the school and the students. Your suggestions for future events and activities are always welcome, as is your support.

Community collaboration is highly valued as it enables us to partner and promote local businesses and work in synergy to raise funds and awareness of our school.

We welcome and encourage EVERYONE from our school and community to get involved with P&C activities, including volunteering, and attending our meetings to help us to achieve our mission.

Our mission is to promote the interests of the school through collaboration with students, educators and support staff, parents and community members and together we support and encourage the school and faculties to provide a positive learning environment where everyone is inspired to be their best.

Our mission aligns with the school's motto, Vision and Learner Assets:

Engage

  • Support and enable the development, innovation and management of school facilities, equipment and environment through fundraising and grants
  • Provide feedback on school policies and activities

Ignite

  • Respect the wishes and beliefs of educators and support staff
  • Provide a forum for parents and the community to suggest ideas for our school improvement

Excel

  • Champion and role model diversity and inclusion
  • To approach any challenges with a positive attitude

P&C Achievements

2022

We have a few current fundraising goals for the year, and possibly beyond.

Our first goal for the year has been achieved!  Thanks to Brightsiders our Tuckshop has a fresh new look with a beautiful mural created over the Christmas Holidays.

Our next goal is to provide at least 3  refrigerated bubblers around the school, due to reduced water pressure, not all existing bubblers can produce water on demand.

We would also love to create an indoor / outdoor stage for GPAC which will incorporate partial removal of the back of GPAC to be replaced with roller doors, or similar, so that stage can be utilised from the inside and outside.  This will not only save thousands of dollars in stage hire costs for outdoor events, but it will allow us the flexibility to hold larger capacity events… GPAC has limited numbers, especially with COVID considerations, it is easier to maintain a safe physical distance in an outdoor setting.

Our biggest and most important goal, which will include applying for any funding and grants we can, is the expansion of the current walkway coverage to include the areas between the ELC and Tuckshop, and from GPAC out to the Stop, Drop and Go. On wet days children, families and staff are getting soaked just getting in and out of school.

2021

We were successful in securing the funding for a new Playground through our fundraising (thank you for your support) and community grants!  Now the planning and approvals begin and we should have a new playground for all age groups by the end of the school year.

2019

Our aim is to provide a cooler environment in GPAC. Fundraising events in 2019/2020 such as the hugely successful Pub Choir, Trivia nights, Halloween disco and the Colour Run have provided a great launch pad for us to achieve this goal, and in 2020 we helped fund fans for GPAC.

2017

Fundraising activities enabled an upgrade of the Grovely Grub Tuckshop.

2016

The major project of air conditioning all the school classrooms was completed by the P&C through various fundraising activities; the teachers and your children are now enjoying much more comfortable learning environments.

We welcome anyone who is interested in taking a role, task or generally assisting the P&C. Each year the executive positions become vacant and a call for nominations are held and voted on at the AGM. Any vacant positions not filled at the AGM are held open and nominations are always accepted throughout the year until the vacant position is filled. If you are new to the school and looking for an opportunity to get to know your local community, the P&C is a wonderful way to do this. The P&C always welcomes new ideas and new ways of doing things that enhances the culture of our wonderful school community.

To become an accepted member of the P&C, simply complete the membership form and bring it to the next meeting.

Please note: Membership lapses annually at the AGM and must be resubmitted each year to continue as a member.
